Individual and Couples Therapy in Washington, DC & Maryland

Individual Therapy

Therapy can be helpful not only to resolve problems, but also to improve self-esteem, confidence, and overall health. In individual therapy, you and I work together to understand what it is that you'd like to change, how that came to be, and where to go from there.

Couples & Relationship Therapy

Often couples seek therapy when they are experiencing problems or conflict in their relationships. However, couples therapy is an option at any point to deepen your relationship or to better understand your partner. I work with couples of all sexualities, genders, and configurations - e.g. monogamous, polyamorous, open relationships, etc.

Food & Bodies

Many of my clients seek therapy to repair their relationship to food and to their bodies. We live in a world full of messages about how we are supposed to look, feel, and be. I love working with folks to reclaim their sense of agency and autonomy over their bodies, whether they have experienced eating disorders, weight bias, or just want a greater sense of ease and acceptance with their bodies.

Therapy Sessions
My Approach

Clients describe me as direct, laid back, and non-judgmental. I utilize a number of different theories and techniques in individual and couples therapy, but try above all else to relate to you human being to human being. In a world that encourages us to 'optimize' and to hyperfocus on our flaws, I want to provide a space to be curious and accepting of our many quirks and challenges, and to grow from a self-compassionate versus self-critical stance.  Click here to learn more about my counseling approach.

When you stay in your room and rage or sneer or shrug your shoulders, as I did for many years, the world and its problems are impossibly daunting. But when you go out and put yourself in real relation to real people, or even just real animals, there's a very real danger that you might love some of them. And who knows what might happen to you then?
